From October 20-22, Dr. Carlos Puyol Gomez and Dr. Giovanni Antonio Lutzu, respectively CFO and Lab Manager of Teregroup Srl, represented the company at the 18th Algae Biomass Summit (ABS) at the Royal Sonesta Galleria Hotel in Houston, Texas.

The global summit had the theme “Transforming Carbon Through Microalgae into Opportunity,” with a focus on the critical role that algae play in positioning our world towards a zero-emissions future. The summit featured a series of parallel sessions that highlighted the important role algae play in capturing and utilizing carbon dioxide to produce feed, food, bioplastics, dietary supplements, biofuels, and water treatment.
As a sponsor of the event, Teregroup Srl participated in the opening day “Plenary Panel Session: European Spotlight” where the company highlighted its contribution and 11 years of experience in the renewable energy sector through algae-based technologies.
During the two days in Texas, Teregroup Srl had the opportunity to engage in fruitful exchanges of ideas with various American and European algae-producing companies on topics such as the commercialization and international distribution of algae technologies and products. The company also took significant steps in connecting with leading American universities that have been conducting research on optimizing algal cultivation and improving downstream processes.

As evidence of Teregroup Srl’s ongoing commitment to improving algal biotechnologies, it is worth noting that during the days of the global summit, two new articles were published on research led by Dr. Lutzu at the company, specifically focusing on the pharmacological applications of algal extracts and the use of agro-industrial effluents to optimize algal productivity in large-scale cultivation systems:
